Marula Oil vs Argan Oil: Which Is Right for You?

Marula Oil vs Argan Oil: Which Is Right for You?

Argan oil has been the darling of the beauty industry for over a decade. Now Marula oil is gaining recognition — and for good reason. But how do they compare, and which one belongs in your routine?

**Fatty acid profile**
Argan oil is high in linoleic acid (omega-6) and oleic acid, roughly in equal measure. Marula oil is predominantly oleic acid (omega-9) — up to 78%. Oleic acid has a smaller molecular structure that allows it to penetrate the skin membrane more effectively, making Marula oil absorb faster and go deeper.

**Antioxidant content**
Both oils contain vitamin E, but Marula oil also contains vitamin C and procyanidins — powerful antioxidants not found in argan oil. Studies have shown Marula oil is up to 60% more resistant to oxidation than argan oil, meaning it remains stable and effective longer on your skin.

**Texture and feel**
Argan oil tends to feel slightly heavier and can leave a faint residue. Marula absorbs almost instantly with no greasy finish — making it ideal as a daytime oil under SPF.

**Which is right for you?**
Choose argan if you have very dry skin that needs a richer, more occlusive oil. Choose Marula if you want fast absorption, a lightweight finish, and superior antioxidant protection for any skin type, any time of day.

Both are excellent. But if you can only choose one, Marula's absorption speed, antioxidant profile, and versatility make it the stronger everyday option.
